Wears Valley

Wears Valley is a small community also known as Wears Cove. It runs parallel to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a connecting point for may of the must visit towns near the Smokies. Although it is small in population, with under an estimated 7,000 residence, there is always plenty of things to do during your travels.

For vacationers and travelers alike Wears Valley is a must travel as it connects Townsend and the Smokies to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Cades Cove. A scenic drive through the Valley allows you to enjoy the peaceful setting and great Mountain views. Wears Valley History

Originally Named “Crowson Cove” named after Aaron Crowson, the person to move and settle in the valley in 1792.
The name changed sometime around 1900 when Samuel Wear built a fort near the entrance of what we now know as Pigeon forge.

It is believed that early settlers were drawn to the area because of the abundance of limestone. Many early settlers believed that there was some health benefits to the limestone found in the springs in and around Wears Valley.
