Guest Health And Safety
Many businesses and organizations are publicizing their status, policies and procedures during the Coronavirus outbreak worldwide. We write this update to let you know how we are doing here in Townsend at the Highland Manor Inn. We are open for business at this time and plan to continue to serve guests who come to visit the Smokies.
Highland Manor Inn Guest Safety
We are taking the threat of the virus seriously. As result of the threat, Highland Manor Inn has put into place extra procedures to keep our staff and our facility sanitized from the Front Desk to the guest rooms. Highland Manor Inn continues to offer the same level of service we always provide, including the complimentary breakfast. We are simply telling everyone who calls for reservations that if you feel bad, have a cough, or a fever stay home, but if you are well, come on over.
Enjoy Outdoor Activities In Townsend
Townsend, the National Park, and Cades Cove have a lot of open spaces and fresh air just sitting there waiting for us to enjoy. I assume you have read or heard about the guidelines and /or information that is covering the media these last few weeks. We are following these guidelines to keep our staff and our visitors safe.
Many of you must be wondering about the Park, Townsend, and the restaurants here. Those of you that know Townsend know there are many things to do here without being in close contact with others. Among the many outdoor activities and things to do, Tuckaleechee Caverns is open and the Little River Railroad & Lumber Company Museum grounds are always open and the Museum itself is due to open weekends starting April 4.
Townsend Business Update
Taking a current check around town, some of the restaurants that were closed over the winter are remaining closed. Others have already opened for the season and are following their normal hours. Some of the restaurants are suggesting take out as a great option but are open on a limited basis for inside dining. I learned yesterday that the Visitor Centers within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are all closed at this time.
The National Park is open, and the restrooms are available but, no people are working to give personal assistance. We are not encouraging or saying that one should now travel to Townsend, conversely, we are not encouraging or saying that one should not travel to Townsend now. We are wanting you to use your own good judgement when traveling, now and in the future. If it works for you, we are here. I will be posting again if there are changes to the situation in the Townsend community and the Highland Manor Inn.
