People, places, and things that touch the lives of all of us and our friends and neighbors
Fall is in the air even though it has been nearly 90 or above these last few days. It’s time to put the top down (or roll down the windows) and take off for a road trip to Townsend, TN and the Smoky Mountains. Whether you want to float the river in a tube, or go horsebackriding or hiking in the Smoky Mountains, Townsend can be and should be your vacation headquarters. Townsend is near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg without all the gridlock traffic. You can visit these locations and make a hasty retreat when you have had enough, coming back to the peace and quiet and solitude of the mountains. When you arrive you will want to secure your room at the Highland Manor Inn and then begin your time of relaxation and recreation.
Don and I took a road trip the other day going over the top of old Smoky and around the mountains of North GA and returned via The Dragon. The views were beautiful all around and we saw this bear.
In addition to staying at the Highland Manor Inn, you will want to visit Tuckaleechee Caverns, The Little River Railroad and Lumber Company Museum, and the Heritage Center Museum. Townsend also has many gift shops and the community is home to many artists who display their crafts and paintings in the Artist's Gallery on Hwy 321.
You can easily fill up a weekend of fun in the sun. Hope to see you soon! Here we go!
